Mid-East Entertainment~ Elaine Cook

Elaine Humphreys Cook is principal harpist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra and second harpist with the Louisville Orchestra. She has played with the Cincinnati Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, Berkeley Orchestra, and the Aspen Festival Orchestra. As acting principal harp with the Louisville Orchestra for three years, she performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Elaine appears on the Pro Organo label with the Christ Church Girls Choir in Dancing Day by John Rutter and A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Elaine teaches with the Lexington Talent Education Association and at the University of Louisville.

Her family has made its way in music for generations: composers, music critics, symphony members of orchestras in Louisville, Detroit and Cincinnati. Her great-grandfather was principal cellist in a Vienna based orchestra directed by Edward Strauss. Elaine has been featured regularly at The Lexington Club, Spindletop Hall, Idle Hour Country Club and Joseph Beth Booksellers. She has played for weddings at the Marriott, Bodley-Bullock House, Hunt Morgan House, Bell House, Palomar Centre and many churches in Central Kentucky.

Classical selections that are pleasant listening & may combine familiar sounding classics with music written for capabilities of the instrument, i.e. music written especially for the harp, organ or string quartet. These selections need not be listed in the printed program unless the bride and groom have requested particular music such as a special selection when the ushers light candles fifteen minutes before the ceremony.
There could be a vocalist with a song just before the seating of grandparents and mothers. In this case, the soloist would give you choices within a style and range suitable for the voice.
